Marketing our Greatest Asset!!!

As artists if we want to make money with our talent (which I am sure most of us do) then we too must be in the sales and marketing arena. Doesn't sound like much fun I know. But here are a few tips to help: these are ideas from Cecilia Lee written 2001. They still apply today. Restaurants are a viable place to check into for hanging artwork. Ice Cream shops, pubs, bars anywhere there is a blank wall. Talk to the owners and see about hanging some of your work in thier businesses. Bookstores are another place to also check int. They may wish to place a few of your paintings in a window. Consider investing in notecards and postcards to also sell with your paintings. Vista printing is a great place to get these items at a great price. www.vistaprinting.com Libraries are another great place to check into. Speak with the Librarian about show casing a few of your pieces. Local libraries are almost always willing to help local artists. As Cecilia states: "Walk around your community, we are artist after all, there is alot of opporitunity for us emerging artist."

We have to learn to toot our own horn so to speak. If anyone else has any ideas on places to show our work please let us know.

Not only are restaurants, cafes, bars, etc, a great place to hang art; do a sketch, photo, painting of the place, do a scene from the establishment. I'm new to internet marketing, but, have enjoyed success doing this. It also helps when you want to hang other works there. Big ice breaker.
