Muddy looking paint is caused from overworking the paint. When you pick up paint with your brush, make no more than three strokes for your colors to remain bright and vivid. While I agree that it appears that you have overworked the paint, I like the overall composition. Remember the three stroke rule! Make sure your brushes are in good shape. Splayed bristles are an indication of poor cleaning and should be replaced. I use linseed oil to get the lions share of paint out of my brushes then I use Turpentine to remove the remaining oil and paint. After the oil and turpentine washing I use Fast Orange to remove any remaining paint, oil and turpentine with a gentle scrubbing in the palm of my hand. I also use Fast Orange to clean my hands when I am through painting. All my best!
