Oh I do love this one. The dog's expression is so well captured and the way he is partially hidden by the grasses is masterly. I also find the colours and textures in the background to be very well executed. Great painting!

Rosseau was a master of brushwork the movement as such is not quite the same. He also used a knife to spread the paint and combined the brush and pallet knife in most of his work.
