The DSRV Mystic was stationed at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego. It never had to conduct an actual rescue operation, but its crews regularly drilled to maintain procedural readiness. Just as important were the regular maintenance days of this deep diving (5000 ft) vehicle along with its sister DSRV (Avalon).
