Spain. February 23, 1981.

(C) 2005 Armando Salas. --------------February 23, 1981.- A putsch: Lieutenant-Colonel Antonio Tejero Molina (under the orders of two more senior officers, Lieutenant-General Jaime Miláns del Bosch and Major-General Alfonso Armada) marches into Congress and holds the deputies hostage while the Motorized Division of Miláns del Bosch occupies the streets of Valencia. The coup is foiled by the King, who contacts other army officers to assure them that the coup did not have his support, as had been claimed by the conspirators.-------- I did this pencil portrait of Lieutenant-Colonel Tejero at Castillo de la Palma militar prison ( Ferrol) . March 1981.

What talent you have, Armando. How difficult to draw a portrait of someone you do not admire. Much easier when it is of a cute child! What an amazing life you have led!

Artist Reply: Scary but real, Steph. Only a bit... and a new Civil War!- God save the King! Thank you for your kind comments. :-)

You've really caught the mans character Armando, that's great drawing of him. His nose looks just as it should as well, big and beaked :) I remember that being in the news, Now I am showing my age LOL!

Artist Reply: Yes, Steph: that night, you asked for a second feeding bottle. voracious baby! :-)))

Ok TheeeHeeee...thanks for shareing this masterpice of arround 25 years old.Love this too as all of yours Armando!

Artist Reply: Thank you for your comments and the portraits you send in an e.mail to me. I'll treasure them, you know, terrific snakecharmer:-))). In real life, this guy was more bad than the "militar" coffee we both take at Castillo de la Palma prison. I only was there as a VISITOR, OF COURSE. :-))) I don't like the putsh. After dictator Franco's putsh,(1936-Spanish Civil War) three brothers of my father were fusilladed.:-((((((((
