George Bernard Shaw

One day as I was enjoying a dusty old book on turn- of -the -century figures-artists, poets, writers, etc. I came across a small b & w photo of playright George Bernard Shaw...and I wondered how I might translate his portrait in color, with pastels....?

This is an extraordinary portrait of a legendary figure. The textures, and subtle color cues enhance the greatness of the man. Your portraits are truly amazing. You capture the essence of character and the soul of those who must live inside your immensly creative and intricate mind. Your technical skills are bold with great structure with the added bonus of a relaxed imaginative style that give your work your individual stamp like the great portrait of the brilliant man you portray in many of your inspiring works of art.

I am not logged in now Kathy-san but this image is not only great because of the accurate likeness but your pastel style reminds me of Van Gogh ( take a look at his pastel portrait and you'll see the parallels between the 2 styles ) your style kathy-san is very intense on this one and it is really cool to see you use a loose approach and let the effect of that approach make the image stand out that much more

This was B/W and you made it color? Wow. Love the little patches of color you put in the flesh tones. Not bad for just being made up. I don't think I could do that. I read Saint Joan, but I don't remember much of it now; otherwise I would offer up an appropriate quote that would then make me look so cool. Darn it!

This is great, Kathryn! The technique is awesome! I love the look of pastels, I'm just not very good with them yet, so I kinda shy away from them. Take care!! ;-)

I have been cruising around your portraits, Kathryn and I am really impressed not only with your skill at rendering the likeness of your subjects faces with photographic exactness but also how you have approached each portrait with a different technique. It seems no matter what you try you can make a success out of it. Incredible talent.
