Give Me A Kiss

This is Giannia,my grandaughter, who is growing so fast. She loves to come visit, and this is how she gives me a kiss. I love when babies are learning, so fun and so cute. She has her mother Theresa's beauty (see her under women portraits and them together in Beautiful expressions of love). For her, I do much anything, even share her pink eye infection this past week. It was worth it! Painted with a wacom tablet and stylus pen, using Painter IX software. I used layers of airbrush the most with different brush settings and softness. I used water brush tools, such as dotting and dragging the grainy round brush to blend the background colors, and other water and blending tools for the rest. The hair is blended stands that I built up in layers of single strands over wider brush swipes, then softly blended then together, leaving some individual areas not as blended strands. I'm getting better with eyes and lashes, as before had trouble with small detail areas. The Painter IX software is able to do little areas and tiny brushes I could not with the older version of Painter Classic that I used in many of my first digital paintings. I also learned to use a larger canvas area and resolution. Some of my first were done as low as a 72 dpi, as I didn't know any different. I know not to now, if I want better prints. Hope you like this one. It took a while, had to finish it with one eye not so infected. I'm on the mend now, thank goodness.

Pucker-up baby

Artist Reply: I'm glad you got to see this one of her puckering up! She was so funny! I did put the close up of her eye so you can see more deails of the way I paint. The small images don't show so much detail, so they can look more like photos at times.

I agree with you. When babies are waking to the World and interacting with us is wonderful ! Congratulations for your beautiful grandaughter and photo work you did! Ah ! How is it possible you be a so young grandmother ?????????

Artist Reply: I've always looked young. Not yet 50, but have 4 yrs to go. I take after my late father, who kept smooth baby skin, and few wrinkles or gray hair. I get mistaken for someone younger often. It was really bad when I was first dating as a teen. I had to carry several proofs of ID to get into the rated R movies. This went on until I reached 30. Really funny was going out in public whe I married and was pregnant and a young mother. I heard a number of times parents point me out and say, "See what happened! She didn't listen and now is going to ruin her life!. I looked about 15. I actually celebrated when I stopped getting asked for ID. Young at heart, so must be helping me. Kids relate to me as I so totally get them.

Artist Reply: Thank you so much! She is a camera hog, and always posing for me. I've learn to keep a camera close by to capture her expressions. I am trying to learn how to do more facial expressions. Child are so good at making them and such a pleasure to watch.
