This is a portrait I did of one of my former students. She was a delight to be with. I updated this version so that is is a higher resolution and size. I used my wacom tablet, and Painter Claddic software to paint this portrait.

Great image, Terry!! Shes just glowing! I really like the background color also! Take care!! ^_^

Artist Reply: Thanks Steve! She helped pick the style she wanted, a soft glow & dreamy look. It suited her personality well.

Another gorgeous artwork to your series of your former students!

Artist Reply: Thank you! I'm updating some of my older ones, since I've learned some better skills, and currently finishing a group of this year's students. I will be done with the last three next week to give them to my class.

what I like about your work is it looks like pastels natural and soft value trnsitions and no contrived lighting!

Artist Reply: Thank you Mark! I like the soft values alot, and rather do my own lighting the best I can create on my own. You should see me trying to figure out lighting bif I try to adjust using a photo program or software. It's easier for me to just do it. I can adjust if I had to the brightness/contrast, and focus, the rest is just bothersome for me.

Each one is smashing. What did you teach?

Artist Reply: Thanks! Well, depending on the time frame, I've taught/teach Girl Scouts, 4-H Club, Boys & Girls Club Activities, Before & After School Youth ( teaching P.E., science, computers, art, drama, cooking, music, health, pet care, community service, depending on interests and assignments) Centers, Child Care Centers, Tutoring, Special Needs, ages range from infant to teens. I've worked as an arts' & crafts instructor, camp counselor, child care & youth center director, Library Service Director, Story time at the Library Summer programs, Girl Scout leader for all age groups for 16 years, have a Brownie troop currently. I work full time during the school year asas a Paraeducator- working with Special needs students ages 12-14 , 6th-7th graders at the moment, at a school, but might be with 5th graders next year. I work at a school a couple of miles away from my house that has a large number of low income families enrolled and a larger than most special needs enrollment. It's a great school that has the support of nearby retirement communities donating yearly for tax credits funds to support it's after school programs. We average about 30 or more, from tutoring, sports, clubs, computers, and more. By keeping the kids busy learning, and learning, it helps them have a safe place to be afterschool, and helps with their grades, and expand their learning experiences. I have scouts once a week, and tutor as needed this year for special ed students. Many can do the work, but just need some extra time to get it done. This allows them to mainstream and complete work, and build self-esteem, even social skills. I'm probably working at Summer School this summer for a month, instead of working all summer at a nearby Air Force Base Youth Center as a SUmmer Camp Teacher. LOL! I want a vacation for a month this summer and visit family! I've actually not as active as I was before my accident and my daughters grew up. Back in the day, I'd run 2 troops of scouts, camps, PTA, and a Family Daycare, and whatever else I could squeeze in. I found I like jobs working with children that weren't desk jobs, such as a director. I like the hands on, teaching part best, and much happier doing the work, even if pay is low to nothing. I enjoy being a teacher's aid and working with a child, than grading papers, and calling parents, filling reports out. I do adapt work for children I work with, but enjoy doing that, and finding ways to keep their interests, yet teach at the same time. My current job lets me do that.

Awesome portrait Love it :)

Artist Reply: Thank you! She's a young girl that doesn't see herself as a beauty, and wouldn't care if she is. She's got too much to do to worry about that.
