THE DAY THE ANGEL CAME

AUGUS 3RD 1946 MY SISTER BONNIE LEE WAS BORN...LIKE ALL FAMILIES AND SIBLINGS WE HAD OUR DIFFERENCES AND SPATS BUT WE ALSO HAD OUR LOVE. I ADMIRED MY SISTER BONNIE IN MANY WAYS, SHE WAS VERY INTELLIGENT AND MANY PEOPLE LIKED HER. SHE BELIEVED IN GOD AND WAS THE FIRST PERSON I EVER PRAYED WITH. WE USED TO PLAY CHURCH AND SUNDAY SCHOOL, SHE WAS THE TEACHER. ONE AFTERNOON IN OUR LITTLE BEDROOM WHEN WE WERE PLAYING SUNDAY SCHOOL AND TALKING ABOUT GOD AND JESUS CHRIST SHE ASKED ME IF I WOULD LIKE TO PRAY TO ASK FORGIVENESS OF MY SINS AND LET GOD LIVE WITHIN MY HEART. WE KNELT TO PRAY AND I ASKED CHRIST TO BE MY SAVOIR AND SHOW ME THE WAY TO THE FATHER OF ALL THINGS...YOU DO NOT HAVE TO THINK LIKE ME OR BELIEVE LIKE ME. I AM JUST SHARING A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MY SISTER. ALL HAVE THEIR CHOICE WHAT THEY WANT TO DO WITH THEIR LIFE. I CHOSE THIS. I NEVER REGRETTED THAT PRAYER AND NEVER FORGOT THAT DAY MY SISTER AND I PRAYED. IT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT EVER HAPPENED IN MY LIFE AND SHE WAS A MAJOR PART OF IT. THROUGH THE YEARS MANY THINGS TOOK PLACE...MY SISTER WENT TO COLLEGE AND WAS ATTENDING THE MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE WHEN SHE WAS 18 YEARS OLD STUDYING TO BECOME A KINDERGATEN TEACHER. ONE COLD NIGHT IN NOVEMBER, THE 8TH TO BE EXACT, 1964...THE POLICE CAME TO THE DOOR TO TELL US MY SISTER HAD DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHILE SHE WAS OUT WITH HER FRIENDS. THEY WERE JOY RIDING AS YOUNG PEOPLE DO. SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT GOT KILLED IN THAT ACCIDENT, SHE FELL OUT OF THE CAR AND WAS KILLED INSTANTLY. THAT IS WHAT THE FUNERAL DIRECTOR SAID. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE COFFIN WAS NOT OPEN BECAUSE SHE WAS TOO BADLY CRUSHED. I DID NOT CRY BACK THEN...BUT I TELL YOU NOW I HURT AND MY HEART CRYS TODAY. I MISS HER MORE AS THE YEARS GO BY WONDERING WHAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE IF SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE DIED THEN. I MISS TALKING TO HER AND SINGING WITH HER AS SHE LOVED TO SING, SHE HAD A VOICE LIKE AN ANGEL. ONE OF HER FAVORITE SONGS WAS "THE OLD RUGGED CROSS". WE SANG IT MANY TIMES TOGETHER. THIS IS THE DAY THE ANGEL CAME TO TAKE MY SISTER TO BE WITH GOD. I JUST WANTED TO LEAVE A PERSONAL MEMORIAL TO HER. MY WORK IS MEANT TO BE PERSONAL, MY ART IS MY LIFE AND MY LIFE IS MY ART. AS I SAID YOU DO NOT HAVE TO THINK ABOUT GOD OR JESUS OR RELIGION LIKE I DO. I NEVER HAVE ASKED YOU TO. THIS IS JUST A TRIBUTE TO MY SISTER AND A NOTE TO EXPLAIN THIS WORK. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING MY IMAGES AND MAY YOU FIND LOVE AND TRUTH AND PEACE IN YOUR LIFE...I PRAY THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT BLESSES YOU ETERNALLY. SINCERELY CHRISTINE...FOR ANYONE THAT VIEWS MY WORK AND IS OFFENDED BY IT, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO VIEW IT IN THE FUTURE IF IT BOTHERS YOU AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMMENT ON IT IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL ANGRY. I DO NOT WANT TO ARGUE WITH YOU OVER THE MATTERS OF THE UNIVERSE OR THE COSMOS OR RELIGION. PEACE IN THE NAME OF THE HOLY FATHER...ONE THING I FIND VERY STRANGE IS THE DATES HERE...1946 T0 1964...

Great story!!! I remember you sitting me down at about 4 or 5 and asking me to let Jesus into my heart, very similar to this story. Well, I have seen many different views on life and Jesus, but he has never really left. I can thank you for that. ---me

What a POWERFUL in memoriam this is, Christine... I read your story... There's such a pain, about her loss, but such a joy to have her had as your sister;you did celebrate her life in this memorial and shared that with us. Art is a good medium to release the pain. And I think you did this by writing your pain down, and by creating this beautiful tribute. I'll make you the pic of the day, since I want people to read this... You're wonderful!

Hello Christine...and i'm terribly sorry for your lose and sadness...and i'm with you in this sorrow. She was very beautiful,i can tell..like your works and words are filled with BEAUTY,love and emotions to her.About beliefs,we are saying here - "ASHREY HAMA'AAMIN "=happy is the man/woman who believes...and for ME,Personally...it does not matter what you believe in,even,if we believe different beliefs. These lines - "My bonnie is over the ocean.."-was the first English song we learn,i English lessons,at school. She was a leo too..it goes well with teaching. You indicates for us the years she lived, for a reason,1946 -1964...she was 18 years old...so very young..starting her life. The number 18 according to our beliefs...is a nuber for good luck...FOR LIFE..It represent LIFE...I used to wear a neclace with the hebrew fonts represent this nuber ( 18=live),in my childhood..because it supposed to be luck for life.If you check 1946 and 1964...you'll get the same number - 2.As i'm writing to you this..i hear from outside a cry of a new born,a baby...-new life...the spirits. The angel came to take her...because unfortunately, she finished her role here..perhaps her role was to teach you those things, you will never forget all your life, because more then your blood, she was also your personal teacher, who influenced your life.I'm sorry i comment a day after you post this..i didn;t feel well yesterday...and perhaps,at the time you were working on this..or posting this..i ask something from god..in a very strong way.LOVE 2 U ALWAYS...NIRA

Nice memorial Christine. When we can't understand, all we can do is trust and cherish the moments and do our best to live without regrets. Amazing how some memories we have stay with us and make the impressions they do. God bless!

A beautiful tribute Christine.

Terry Bassett 08 Nov 2006

What a poignant story you tell Christine.. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's unfortunate death.. she was born in the same year as myself. I understand your feelings, in regards to "WONDERING WHAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE IF SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE DIED", as I lost a younger brother some years ago. Although not a Christian, I respect the right of others to follow the path of their choice and admire your fervour in that respect. Congratulations on creating a lovely tribute...
