First Oil Painting

This is the first oil painting portrait that I have done in my life and that was completed around 40 years ago. Hopefully, another art medium from my past will please those requesting such here at ArtWanted!***** This painting took place in 1968 at the Dayton Art Institute within a life drawing class. This work was finished in four hours or during a regular life drawing summer art class. I started this portrait using a dry brush then finished it with regular oil paints. There were around twenty other people or students surrounding this particular model that days. Pastels, oils, acrylics, crayons, tempera, watercolors, enamels and colored pencils are some other mediums used along the way. Colored art works certainly took place before the ballpoint pen oil based inks came along.***** I modernized or animated this particular painting in order to deminstrate current day skills. To me drawing seems harder to learn than colors because coloring is a natural for me. Painting is cool because changes can be made throughout the work plus may different colors are avaliable or at hand. Glazing a painting in the end stages certainly can produce great effects or results***** I think ink artworks or drawings are more difficult than most other mediums because making changes is harder! Pen and ink artworks have been around for over four thousand years before oil paintings came alone. So let us not loss perspective of whats really going on within the art world or history.***** Your fellow artist and friend, Jerry Stith

You have given ballpoint pen art, a great come-uppance, Jerry. This is nice, but your ballpoint pen ink artwork is so well developed!
