this is a sketch of a small sculpture coloured in absolute black.the idea of sketching it came to my mind when we had a powercut and had to lit a candle, the shades of light that fell on it were beautiful and made me do what u see here>>>

This is wonderful Atiya, and I love the lighting, it is a very sympathetic type of light. After reading your's and Anthony's thread, I just had to come and have a lok at it. You see I also did a pencil drawing by candle light, and that got a lot of comments just like yours. I got sick of telling them that the candles were all around the room! Candle light is so different to the light from a single source, and it gives the subject a very special feel.

Hi Atiya my good friend, sorry I've been amiss for a while, and bigger sorries for not already leaving comment on your great work :) Having just read a few of your comments on this I am bemused as to the reasons for the critiques. I beg to differ with Arjan re: the lighting situation on your shading. Real life can often throw up strange shadowing, more so in the case of this excellent picture that was drawn by Candle Light. Way to go friend, a power cut can't stop Atiya :) I find the topic and your portrayal of it to be superb. I could not agree more with RQ re: this being great subject for a sculpture or 10. It really is a wonderful work by you. I hope you can perserve with this sort of topic for it is both refreshing and perhaps you :) Catch you again soon friend. Lazarus

This would make a really good wood (?) sculpture. I can see it being done in maghony for the grain and color. I might want to borrow this in the future with your approval.

You created the third dimension on a flat surface. Great! There are lessons in everything we do, the object is to realize what you have learned. Well done!

This shows your awesome talent, without a face to express or communicate, I still feel the life.

Hi "A Blaze!" This pencil drawing looks like a real sculpture. I feel liek Icould reacjh into my excellecelent brand new Dell computer (5 days old) and grab it and set it on the shelt nezt to me--or if this were the midnight murder mystery, use it to....." I like it a lot! I anot realy fond of plain drawing ususally either. But if I weren't already an artsit with not an inch of wall space avilable--I'd buy this. You are terrific and gifted. B'Shalom, Adelle

Hello Atiya sorry i might come on a bit hard. Where is the light coming from? I mis shadow as i look at the feet the light is coming from the right in that case the right site from the sitting block should be light and shadow casted by the body on the left THe figurs right upper leg is not in propertion with the other so is his bottum the shadowoft the backside figure's right leg can be worked out much more follow the curve and the light with your crayon I can see the place where he sits upon thrue the figure and i'm missing a finger i think you can do better.
