Artist Reply: the slave has a tag with registered numbers on her necklace which i read slaves actually had to wear. To me the question of this piece is who really owns who. The slave is owned in body by the master but, he is actually in love with her so owned in his heart and he is begging forgiveness for holding her captive when he knows its wrong
