Martini Cleaners , sign

This is one I just want to share with you all. I did this sign in 1990 for two perfectly wonderful people who own the dry cleaners. It ended up in a national dry cleaning magazine. I was looking for windows to paint for christmas and I was the first one to be offered the Nissan logo in silver just from the general manager seeing this photo. I did not do the logo for them even though I had started it. You see I was very afraid....could I be good enough to really do it because I was offered 615 Nissan dealers if I did it right. My career would sky rocket if I was truely good enough.I would have made 1,000,000. After my meeting I got on the bus, I had 8 months clean.....I got off the bus and ran from myself for ever bad tape in my head of negative statements given to by my father....that it isn't good enough! I struggle every day with those same tapes. It is sad and I work very hard to stay on a positive track. And I can honestly say that coming into the artwanted program has helped me alot. So I say may god bless you all for all your inspiration that you have given to me. Thank you!

great piece of work fantastically done awsome job

Artist Reply: Yes, Thank you. It took 150 hours exact, clocking in and out. Cardboard cuttings straight up, paper mache', and casting plaster. I never had to cut the same peace twice , it all just fell into place. It was funny how it all happened getting the work for this peace... I was a student at the art institute and just happened to go to the paint store for sand paper. The guy saw that I was making an N for class project. By coincidence I went back to that store the next day for more s.p. and he said he knew someone who wanted a sculptured sign.

DEAR LAURA, THAT IS A TOUCHING AND SAD STORY, AND I HOPE YOU WILL TRIUMPH WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL ART. I THINK WE ALL HAVE THOSE BAD TAPES FROM OUR CHILDHOOD WHEN WE WERE SO SENSITIVE AND IMPRESSIVE TO THE SMALLEST SLIGHT. GOD BLESS...

Artist Reply: God Bless you too!
