The old expression, Misery Loves Company, is usually interpreted as one who is miserable loves to make others feel the same. But if you say Misery Wants Company, you suggest the misery is caused by a lack of company, or social interaction. Of course, I'm sure there are many varieties of the ailment but as I was staring into one of my walls today, I thought I might suggest another possible interpretation. This is a 5 by 3.5 inches gel pen drawing with color pencil on medium bond acid-free paper. Original Jones Art is still working feverishly in northwest Austin, Texas.

that we are experiencing or have experienced ... lol : ) where's the edit button on this thing...

Artist Reply: Trouble is, most of what folks throw upon the internet will float around forever or until the digital age is replaced with something else. So don't worry about it, Dave. At least on FB you have the ability to edit your own faux pas. :)

Humans are social beings and perhaps a lot of what we're looking for is validation that what we are or have experienced sucks . The longing and misery in the face here is potent and tugs at the human heart . Thank you for this reminder Charles : )

Artist Reply: I guess a lot of my faces aren't exactly brimming with joy or mirth, Dave, and I wish it were otherwise sometimes. But life--human life--isn't usually filled with the real thing so we manufacture the artificial variety which usually only compounds our woe. We want what we can get out of our fellows when all we need do is share what we are with others. Between dreaming and drawing, I do a bit of thinking these days. :)
