Spring Thaw

This was the created for a fun little art contest in which we were expected to draw a very cliché white unicorn in a cliché setting. Well, I got the white unicorn bit rihgt, and the rainbow is certainly a common feature in unicorn art, but the rest is my own original concept. The last few weeks of winter (according to the calendar dates) were very warm with highs in the 60's, then, ironically, a hard snowstorm struck on the first day of spring, and wintery weather has lingered ever since. It is snowing right now. I was very frustrated with it all, so I drew my own magical solution. Here, for your viewing pleasure, is my pretty little unicorn saving the world from the deadly cold wrath of winter. It did well in the contest, by the way. I got third place out of uncountable entries! Sakura Cray-Pas oil pastels on the back of a 5" x 8" index card.
