The Lionfish

Let me introduce you to the lionfish (actually if you look closely there are two in this shot.. one on the background) Lionfish are a predatory species that often hunt in what appears to be groups. A rather lazy fish, they hang motionless at the crest of the reef waiting for dinner to swim to by! The Lionfish are a nocturnal family of fish that lives in holes and caves in the reef only coming out at night to hunt. There are about 350 different species found throughout the warm oceans of the world. I met this one a dive in Florida over a reef in about 15 feet pf water& This image is a little dark... but so was the water and I could not go back for my flash.......
