This poor Park Ranger was sent out to access the damage. All he could do is shake his head and say "Don't know if we can fix this one." This stretch of road is often damaged but not to this extent. The river erased 4 ft. of soil, leaving a rocky stretch a quarter of a mile long. There were still small streams and ponds left behind. We see the power of mother nature often on our hikes, but it never ceases to amaze us both. (P.S. They did fix this road in Feb., but little did we know that this area would sustain much worse damage in Nov. of the same year.....)
