This is one of those places where you have a choice to make about which hike to take. On the south side of the highway is the Skookum Flats trail along the river where this photo is taken from. We wanted to sit in the sun for lunch on this chilly Feb. day in 2006, but obviously we were on the wrong side of the White River, shady and cold. (If you look closely, you can see the guard rail on the highway across the river.)This is an easy hike, very beautiful, with Skookum Falls as one of the highlights. I'm posting these photos to show you where the Palisades Trail takes you.....up there above the cliffs. Tomorrow.....
