insects are an important part of the nature family, so I think it is worth having a contest with the theme of insects as whole or a specific insect group such as beetles

My idea is to have a contest based on PRIDE due to the fact that this is pride month. I think that would really be great and create alot of awareness too!!! People can also choose if they would like to share a story based on pride that may also go along with the work. Just an idea! Happy PRIDE!

I'd like to submit the theme of Rust., this follows along the lines of a group I started recently and may help to get a bit more interest started. Anything with the main subject being rust, such as the image I've included, photography or artwork. Thank you!

I am actually disappointed with the low interaction overall on this website. So many talented artists. Many years ago when I visited it was much more frequented. What happened ??? I also think that you could do shows juried by the public but ALSO juried by other singular artists as well. I feel like it starts to be a popularity contest verses an objective look into the art displayed. Just a personal opinion of course.

Regarding ideas for the art contests-- I don't know if these were ever done, but how about doing our own take on an anime character? Also--how about a Sci-Fi character from our own imagination? Could be alien looking or an alien/human hybrid--something strange, weird, but nice? Maybe, something from another world? How about a Halloween-themed piece--again-nothing gory or gruesome? Just my thoughts on these themes--could be fun.

What about a contest for wood burning, you could pick the theme. Then maybe a ribbon could be sent in the mail to the three (3) winners, so they can post the winning piece with their ribbon at other shows and to friends and family.

(I haven't been getting weekly contest notices.) So far big contests seem great. With the calendar contest, I think each month could focus on the holiday within the month, using different themes. The winners of these contests could then go into the calendar at the end of the year for the next year. Example for December: week one - contest of people during December, week two - animals during December, week three - landscapes during December, week four - flowers or whatever other thing you wanted to be highlighted during December. Then at end of year, you would have four calendar choices: People, animals, landscapes, florals as themes for the calendars.

A contest based on person's or animals eyes and or facial expression that tells a story about the artwork without artist having to explain what it's about. Something that just grabs a art lovers emotions.Rember a person's eyes can tell many a story's and feelings. I have actually been brought to tears admiring a painting of something that touched me deeply.i would love to see more artwork of this degree.

A Meta Art Contest:

Meta Art, contemporary yet depicted all throughout art history. No, this is not a reference to Facebook. Meta Art is a conceptual expression unique to the artist or their message. It incorporates honest self reflection and seeks to challenge what might be considered the norm. Essentially it can be what you like and in any style that you like. However, it must portray a message, act, protest, or critique of something you see within yourself or others which goes unnoticed as unusual, unnaceptable, maybe hillarious, or shocking? It’s broad, but it prompts us to think. An example might be a story board depicting a young girl watching her mother get stressed over her weight. Then, followed by a scene showing her mother telling her off for being upset about her weight, to then see the complete piece shows how the mother is holding the story board noticing her influence on the matter. Many more examples but that depicts a strong look inwards and a realisation of what absurd normality was at play.
